The National Railway museum

The Railway museum is situated in a real old station, the former Utrecht Malibaan station. This station was closed in 1935 when all train companies merged to form the Dutch Railways. The station however was never demolished and the old trains together with the  outstanding architecture perfectly resembles the atmosphgere of a nineteenth century trainstation. In 2003 the station came into use again, now for the hourly special museum train, which offers a fast connection to the Utrecht Central Station.

In 2005 the museum reopened afters years of renovation and construction of extra space. The Station hall has been restored in its origonal state.
