Kerkenkruis (Church cross)

The Utrecht bishop Bernoldus built his church cross in the 11th century. The Dom (St Martin's cathedral) surrounded by 4 Chapters for St Mary, St Peter, St John and St Paul. From all four churches there are at least remains visible. St John and St Peter still are in business.

Below you find some pictures of the remains of St Pauls and St Mary. The St Mary church is not present anymore however the beautiful and only dutch Romanesque monastry isle still exists.

 

The convent of St Pauls is largely built in the formar Utrecht courthouse. only the southermost facade wall is still visible from outside as wel as a small fragment of the central absis wall.
