Trier, Luxembourg

Trier is eigenlijk een groot openluchtmuseum. Van bijna elke architectonische periode vanaf de Romeinse tijd zijn er gebouwen. In juni 1993 hebben wij een aantal dagen in Trier doorgebracht en op de terugweg hebben we nog een kort bezoek aan Luxemburg stad gebracht.

Trier is a big open air museum. Almost all art periods from the Roman empire are represented in the city's architecture. In june 1993 I visited Trier with a freind. On the way back to Holland we paid a short visit to the capital of Luxembourg.

	De romaanse kathedraal, In de elfde eeuw is de bouw van deze basiliek gestart, later zijn er vooral inwendig gotische aanpassingen geweest o.a. het gewelf. Ook werd in deze tijd de kruisgang gebouwd, die de kathedraal verbindt met de ernaast gelegen (vroeg gotische) kerk. The construction of this cathedral started in the 11th century. In the late middle ages the interior was changed ; a new gothic ceiling was constructed and the cloister was built.
Dit is de oude Romeinse stadspoort, de Porta Nigra, gebouwd in de tweede eeuw na christus. This is the old Roman gateway, the Porta Nigra built in the 2nd century A.D.
