Herefort, Stonehenge, Salisbury, May 2003

Herfort Kathedraal. De 12de eeuwse kerk, gebouwd in Normandische stijl (een vroege romano-gotische architectuurstroming in Groot Brittanie) heeft een vroeg voorbeeld van zgn. 'perpendicular style'architectuur. Herefort Cathedral, The old 12th century Normandic building has an  early example of the English 'Perpendicular style' architecture.

Stonehenge, mischien wel Europa's belangrijkste Neolitisch monument. Het werd tussen 4000 en 5000 jaar geleden gebouwd. De ingang ligt exact in de richting van de zonsopkomst op 21 juni (zomer zonnewende) Stonehenge, Perhaps Europe's most important Neolithic monument. It has been built between 5000 and 4000 years ago. Its entrance lies exactly in the direction of the summer solstice sunrising.

Een ander voorbeeld van de Normandische bouwstijl uit de 12de eeuw, de kathedraal van Salisbury met de hoogste kerktoren van Europa in die tijd (120 meter) , een klein beetje hoger dan onze eigen Dom dus! Another example of the Normandic style in Britain, Salisbury Cathedral which has one of the highest European towers (120m). Only a bit higher than our own Dom tower.
