Terug

Again.... Barcelona, now with more attention to the less known places of Gaudi and his fellow modernists.

The Hospital de Santa Creu i de Sant Pau van Lluis Domenech y Montaner is an outstanding example of Modernist (Art Nouveau) Architecture and therefore legitimately put on the UNESCO heritage list.

The Palau de la Musica Catalane is another building of the same architect which "suffered" the same fate. Also put on the UNESCO heritage list. The concert hall is the only one in Europe lit by daylight through a huge glass dome. The main hall can host 2100 visitors. It is an important marker to Catalan Nationalism.

Outside Barcelona lies Colonia Guell, a small comunity founded by Guell, a personal friend of Gaudi. He assigned different modernist architect to design and build houses for the site. Gaudi designed and partially built the church. Only the Crypt has been finished.
