Comet C/1996 B2 Hyakutake

This comet was discovered in the period that everyone was already looking forward  for the appearance of Comet Hale Bopp next year. The comet war intrinsicly bright (comparable to Halley and Bennett, according to the first estimates) and would pass the earth by only 15 million km in march 1996. At the 27th of march 1996 this photo was taken. The comet was situated just near Polaris and of 0 to -1 magnitude. This was the comet we waited for after a 20 years of silence....
